About me:

Roger graduated from Ferris State University in Michigan with an associates degree in HVAC Technology in 1981, and from Lawrence Tech in Michigan with a bachelor’s degree in Steam Power Plant Design Mechanical Engineering in 1989. Roger’s mechanical experience began well before he enrolled in advanced education. Straight out of high school, he worked for GM for two years building engines on an assembly line. After completing school at Ferris State, he was hired as a refrigeration technician by Dow West Side, a position he held for four years. After deciding to advance his education even further, Roger left his full-time position and took up summers working as a refrigeration technician and computer room HVAC technician for Dow, while attending Lawrence Tech in pursuit of his engineering degree. After graduating in 1989, he accepted a full-time position of HVAC engineer at Dow, where he stayed for two years before becoming a chemical process refrigeration engineer. Roger has participated in numerous projects during his time at Dow, both domestically and internationally. He was with the grass roots and start up of the ZJG China site, the Shanghai Dow Center, and the Sadara site refrigeration start up in Saudi Arabia. Roger has successfully retired after forty years with Dow Chemical as a refrigeration engineer in December 2024. As a independent licensed professional engineer and mechanical contractor, come see how Roger and Thermal Systems Consultants can help you with your refrigeration needs.

In his spare times Roger enjoys the day to day operations (equipment maintenance, repair planning, etc.) of his 238 acre certified organic row crop farm in West Tennessee. All this is followed by the family’s Christian beliefs and one (1) day of rest for the week!!
